Presented a program to train in the software industry – La Prensa (Argentina)

The Minister of Industry, Debora Giorgi, received in his office the CEO and co-founder of the national company Globant’s software, Martín Migoya, who will announced the launch Globant’s Academy, an initiative to train more than 4,000 youth in new technologies.

 
 

Globant’s Academy, which offer various courses for young people over three years, will contribute to the incorporation of 100 new professionals per month to the company.


 
 

This year, the software industry had a total turnover equivalent to 4.380 billion, with annual growth of 27.2 percent.


 
 

Giorgi said that the software industry “is one of the axes of productive activity because it cuts across other sectors” and stressed that “it is the basis for development of modern economies.”


 
 

“The Government has supported the growth of this sector through specific policies, such as budget increase in universities, reducing the digital divide with programs like Connect Equality, Argentina Connected, the Mi PC program, investment in infrastructure laws and the Conditions Promotion Software Industry, “the official said.

 
 

Migoya Giorgi informed about the launch Globant’s Academy, an initiative that brings together the courses and training provided by the company to train students and young professionals from Argentina.


 
 

The program focuses on teaching technologies, processes, methodologies and interpersonal skills in order to prepare participants for their future careers.

“The potential of the IT industry is immeasurable, and for us it is essential to take these opportunities to all the talent in the country,” said Migoya.


 
 

The initiative will include courses to be issued in e-learning in the cities where the company has offices, in Buenos Aires, La Plata, Tandil, Bahia Blanca, Rosario, Mar del Plata, Córdoba, Tucumán, Medellín (Colombia ) and Montevideo (Uruguay).

 
 

During 2014, the level of overall turnover in the sector was equivalent to 4,380 million, showing an increase of 27.2 percent.


 
 

On the other hand, the export growth of this branch of the economy reached 12.2% yoy, achieving export by 1,117 million dollars.


 
 

In terms of employment, currently around 100,000 people work in this industry, including employees and small entrepreneurs, which means an approximate rise of 10.6% yoy.


 
 

From the Law 25.922 of 2004, based on the Promotion of the Software Industry and amended laws, this value chain has achieved an expansion of employment of 418%, an increase of 557% in the volume of exports and an expansion of 378% in total turnover, if 2003 data are compared to 2014.
