Volkswagen admitted that there are a number of other models automotive that are equipped with software that generates doubts, said Friday the Environmental Protection Agency US EPA and CABR after the scandal over the manipulation of emissions.
Representatives of the automotive German admitted to the US authorities that the diesel VW and Audi brands with engines of 3.0 liters and the years 2009-2016 cars are equipped with a suspicious software. Until now it was only put under the microscope models manufactured in 2014-2016.
The software in question is a different one that had already been detected under the scandal emissions from handling, for which tests were carried out on 480,000 diesel engines 2.0 liter vehicles. This manipulation was supported by VW in September.
This second software called “Auxiliary Emissions Control Device” (PSEA) and also affects the Porsche brand. It is still unknown whether the program alters measurements.
A CARB spokesman said when asked that new charges against VW involve breakdowns in the certification procedure. He said the automaker would not officially reported to the US authorities that the controversial software incorporated in these models.
That, however, does not necessarily mean that the program has been used for manipulative ends.
He declined to say how many cars could be affected in particular, but sources told EPA “Automotive News” that it could be at least 85,000 cars of VW, Audi and Porsche brands.
VW hitherto always argued that the PSEA is not a program that alters values. The president of the company in the United States, Michael Horn, had already admitted to the US Congress on October 8 there could be problems with the local authorities for this program.
