NEW YORK (AFP) – Audi announced Monday that adaptation to American standards of their models equipped with three-liter diesel questioned in the case of pollution controls will cost about 53 million dollars (mdd).
The announcement came days after Audi acknowledged in talks with US authorities to all diesel models three liters since 2009 are equipped with a computer program called AECD (Auxiliary Emission control device).
According to the Agency on Environmental Protection (EPA by its acronym in English), the AECD, undeclared program to the authorities as required by US law allowed Audi circumvent the anti-pollution standards.
The affected models are A6, A7, A8, Q5 and Q7. About 85,000 vehicles (Audi, Volkswagen and Porsche) must be adapted in the United States.
