Mexico City. November 10, 2015 (Informative Agency Conacyt) .- A multidisciplinary group of researchers from the National Institute of Medical Sciences and Nutrition Salvador Zubirán (INCMNSZ) developed a software that will help improve control of chronic degenerative diseases such as diabetes, said Sergio Hernandez Jimenez, coordinator of the Center for Comprehensive Care of the patient with diabetes.
In an interview during the fourth annual meeting of the Global Alliance for Chronic Diseases (GACD, for its acronym in English) to be held in the city of Mexico from 9 to 13 November, the expert stressed that good control of diabetes is very important because this condition triggers another set of diseases.
“Diabetes is a major health problem in Mexico, not only for its high frequency but because it is the leading cause of death in adults, amputations, blindness, kidney failure, heart attacks, disability and cause of hospitalizations “.
Therefore, four years ago came the idea of creating a software that would serve as a kind of electronic record, but also contribute to monitoring progress and maintaining a patient.
“We started with a database for external consultation. This system recababa the most fundamental data are the most practical and help us to make a quick view, the doctors who attend to a patient with diabetes, we know what are the major obstacles or barriers to achieve goals of this control. ”
