Following the example preached by my colleagues in Hypertext , today it’s my turn to show both the tools and software to study and work I use in my daily life. Like some of my colleagues combine my work in Hipertextual with a college degree, so the organization is key to avoid chaos and although I was skeptical at first to believe in the effectiveness of these tools (I had always thought that a person is organized or not regardless of the consequences), the truth is that they are tools that depend greatly, and really make life easier. Do we begin?
Hardware
Because the software would be useless if not for our loyal devices, these are the ones I use almost every day.
- Lenovo Y50 : After using an HP 4520s with a very low power, last year I decided to make the leap to portable submitted by Lenovo at CES 2014. Counting Haswell an Intel i7 processor and 8 GB of RAM, I made sure to have plenty of power to keep multiple programs open at once without noticing anything of lag on the laptop. Also, I chose the Y50 because it could gradually increase the RAM in case I was needed (although I doubt it short term) and the display or hard drive for an SSD.
Even with heavy use is very difficult for the Z3 Compact let me down, and for me that is essential
-
Sony Xperia Z3 Compact . I spend a lot of time every day from home and away from a charger, so when I decided to buy a new smartphone, autonomy should be a key thing. However he did not want to use a phablet 5.5 inch or more, so that the choice of Z3 Compact was the only meaningful. And so far, I’m delighted: 6 to 7 hours of daily screen without sweating too much, and despite being aware of its limitations, it is perfect for me smartphone
-
LG Nexus 4 : My secondary mobile. Since I bought the Z3 Compact I will use less and less, but occasionally it took me over to test functionality Xposed very experimental and Custom ROMs that are in a state of beta or alpha. With nearly three years behind, still a competent smartphone and still maintaining a comparable fluency multitasking flagships in 2015, and still has a lot of trouble to give.
The Kindle Paperwhite is a must not only for hardware, but for catalog recommendation
- Kindle Paperwhite (2013) . Whenever I have a Free gap between classes or waiting for the bus I take to read, whether novels or articles that pass through Instapaper. The combination of lightness and versatility makes Paperwhite must for anyone who wants an e-book recommendation, and is one of the most satisfied shopping has left me.
Software
Although not use so many different software and my colleagues, I am equally dependent on the elements of my short list. There are alternatives for all programs and applications I use here, but for me they are not negotiable on today as I’ve adapted my way of working in them and lose my productivity otherwise. Let them
- Buffer : As I said before, read a lot and not surprisingly, encounter daily many curious things. Also, as I’m addicted to social networks (especially Twitter), Buffer is the perfect tool to schedule tweets and link to articles that are worth a read. Furthermore, as is available on virtually all both mobile operating systems and desktop, it is the most logical choice.
As much as I want to change it, in the end I just always returning to Chrome by web synchronization markers
-
Chrome . Even knowing the serious defects in consumer Chrome RAM and battery, I still use it for a simple reason: my bookmarking website and synchronization between mobile and computer. No browser to do so as well on Windows and Android as does Chrome, and for me that is enough reason to use it as your primary browser. However, sometimes I like to use Internet Explorer on your computer due to its good integration with Windows, and Android use as secondary browser Lightning Browser.
-
Google Drive and onedrive : My two main storage services in the cloud, and I alternate depending on the smartphone you are testing at the moment, either Android or Windows Phone. I especially like the integration to synchronize documents and photographs as well as backups for Windows 8.1, and with 1TB with Office 365 Personal I do not worry about space.
-
Google Keep : Although I’ve tried alternatives such as Wunderlist or Evernote, the truth is that do not need a list with too many features or anything style. I just need an app to take notes easily and can pass them easily from mobile ordeandor and vice versa, and this is the best choice Keep to myself. Simple, functional and effective
Take simple notes should not be complicated, and Keep understands this perfectly.
-
Greenshot : The perfect place to take screenshots in Windows. Fully configurable so that you only need to press a button and forget about shortcuts. This combined with Photoshop to edit images in depth, as well as Office 2010 Picture Manager to work more light , is sufficient for my needs image editing.
-
iA Writer and MarkdownPad2 : My choice for text editors in markdown . The first one is practically a newcomer on Android and I was lucky to buy in state beta being virtually led editors on Android since its inception, while the second is the perfect choice for Windows for its lightness and speed despite being a bit thin on customization, although the latter I do not care
-
Office 365 Personal .: Having used all my life Windows and Office, is quite difficult to stop using the office suite from Microsoft, especially with all the new features that are dropped for Windows 10. I mostly use Word, PowerPoint and Excel for college, but to write in Hypertext I prefer to use text editors I mentioned above.
I hope that Office 2016 is able to convince me to renew my subscription to Office 365.
-
PDF-XChange Viewer : I use little role in my studies, and almost all my notes are passed directly to the computer. However, stress and put notes in the PDF remains essential to me, and PDF-XChange is a lifesaver for this. You can put notes, whether floating or printed, make changes to text or images in an instant, all while still a viewfinder similar to any of the competition text.
-
Pushbullet : Pushbullet is the typical application you get used to use and that, in the event that removed, would have to retrofit many steps in your daily routine. For notifications coming to your mobile and you want to see in your PC, or just to quickly pass notes between the mobile and the PC, Pushbullet is something any blogger to use. In addition, your app in Android has Material Design , a personal weakness.

Slack and Telegram Although I use WhatsApp to talk with most friends and family, fortunately I count on better options to discuss with my colleagues in Hypertext and with my partner. Slack is great, since its integration with services such as IF or Trello to its beautiful interface on Android beta. On the other hand, I use Telegram mainly to talk less formally with people of Hypertext or my girlfriend, and with the arrival of the stickers is extra reason to use it.
Despite his youth, Slack has become little time in the . reference in their field
-
Trello : Another great application know before entering hypertext and I finished my college integrating facet. It is perfect for organizing tasks or distributing work sections for different members of a team, and cards based interface allows you to have a look for you a general idea of what you have pending or different parts of a project. Although the app available for Windows 8.1 is the extension for Chrome is the version that just using more often.
-
VMWare Player : Debian, Ubuntu, Elementary, Fedora … either for work or just out of curiosity, I like to try new operating systems, so that I use as a virtual machine VMWare Player. Formerly used VirtualBox , but it gave me many problems in Windows 8.1 with a theme of drivers, so I went to his main rival and, so far, everything perfect.
As for other programs, these are longer side and has less to do with productivity, such as Spotify to listen to music while I read or write, Hello to jump restrictions content blocked in my country, Pocket to save articles or websites you want to view later, Feedly to be always informed about the latest news and Twitter as my favorite network by a landslide .
