Comptroller: IGSS software overestimated ambulances and equipment – elPeriódico (Guatemala)

This was revealed this morning the Comptroller General of Accounts, Carlos Enrique mencos, who attended the Congress to deliver, in compliance with the relevant legal mandate, the Annual Report 2014 concerning the implementation of the State budget watchdog.

“We have filed complaints against superior authorities IGSS who signed the contracts, “said the owner of the CGC. Among the irregularities overstatements are included in the purchase of a batch of 50 ambulances and computer.

The acquisition of vehicles made in Panama last year, involved spending nearly Q50 million, software or by Q250 million to Q168 million in miscellaneous equipment. In essence, the Comptroller has brought before the Public Prosecutor 41 criminal charges for Q795 million.

Pisa and kidney patients

The Public Ministry and the International Commission Against Impunity in Guatemala (CICIG) discovered on April 16, describing it as illegal situations in IGSS, when 17 sacks of officials, former officials and executives of the Mexican pharmaceutical Pisa, by abnormalities in a contract awarded by Q116.2 million.

According to the MP and CICIG, the board chaired by Juan de Dios Rodriguez and the Qualifying Board Tender offenses incurred by approving and endorsing the contract with the drugstore services 530 kidney dialysis patients, of which more than 20 died from complications due to bad treatment.
