Hi, I’m Nicolas Rivera and this is the software to study and work I use in my daily life.
Studying a university degree and often collaborate with Hypertext does not leave much free time. While organizing day-to-day tasks and, above all, be productive and effective at all times is essential to push both cars simultaneously. And to achieve this objective, the tools and the software I use to study and work charge a great importance, as they can help me win a few extra minutes or even hours-in my day.
So Following the example of my fellow Hipertextual today show you the tools and software to study and work I use in my day.
My teams
Let’s start with the basics . Which teams accompany me in my daily life?
-
MacBook Pro Retina 13 “(2014). The laptop is based on my daily work. And there, the choice I made was a MacBook Pro Retina 13 inches. Its great autonomy combined with its lightness, something essential to one student and power makes it a very versatile and capable for all my daily computer tasks. In it, obviously, I use Mac OS X 10.10 Yosemite operating system.
-
iPad Mini 2. In my day I read a lot. Very much. On the bus, in the car, etc. Whether college notes, news or books. And in those situations it is when the iPad Mini 2 comes out of my backpack and appears in my hands. Its small size makes it really comfortable to read; but it is also big enough for typing text in it, answer emails or enjoy multimedia content. It is the right size considering my needs
iPhone 6, my main smartphone.
-
iPhone 6. In Hypertext I am writing primarily on mobile phones, so they spend tens of smartphones through my hands. However, I just always coming back to my iPhone 6 as the main smartphone. Your camera is wonderful, something very important for micro, quality of App Store applications is unrivaled and its design is falling in love as the first day.
-
Sony Xperia Z3. Although primarily use Apple devices, I must admit that in my heart, there is a space reserved for Android. And to fill it also with me as a secondary device Sony Xperia Z3. Not the best Android market or anything, but its great autonomy and design are anchoring me to him.
Software to study and work
The software occupies my devices is very dynamic, because a new application every day is in these. However, there are a number of tools to work and study that remain entrenched in all of them, because they are essential to my productivity.
-
Safari. Of all the software I use to study and work, the centerpiece is undoubtedly browser. During alternated years between Firefox and Google Chrome, but for a couple of years ago, my default browser is Safari on Android, except where other use Chrome-. The reasons? It is very fast, uses very few resources, and also synchronizes with my iPhone and my iPad.
-
Extensions. In Safari I try to keep everything as simple as possible, because the more we simplify things, fewer distractions will surround us and, therefore, more productive and efficient we become. So I only have a few markers and four extensions. Evernote Web Clipper, Pocket, Buffer and Awesome Screenshot
-
Wunderlist. To achieve maximize my time and be as productive as possible I need to properly manage the tasks that I perform every day. For this I use Wunderlist, the second key in my software to study and work. I did not find a task manager more balanced than this in recent years. So still ongoing in all my docks .
-
Caffeine. As a student, I use the laptop constantly to display text or college exercises. I turn on the laptop, I open the PDF file with the exercises and begin to solve them on a separate sheet. The problem? The screen turns off every X minutes-fifteen, in my case, which is annoying. Therefore, Caffeine lives in the menu bar of my MacBook. It is a simple cup, pressing on her, remains active screen indefinitely.
-
Trello. Along with Wunderlist, Trello much use. It is the tool we use in Hypertext us to organize internally and works great. Without doubt, the best task management software for computers that I know.
-
Cinch. When I migrated to OS X for the first time (about four years), one of the features that most burst missed was the division of screens in Windows 7. I enjoyed was super useful to have information in one half and another, for example, a blank Word file which was drafted according to what I read in the other half. Cinch solved this need, which perfectly emulates the system of division of Windows screens.
-
VirtualBox. an engineering student, I need to work with different operating systems and Windows -Ubuntu some subjects in particular-. For this I turn to VirtualBox, where virtualized both operating systems when I needed.
-
Crossover. Many programs electronics simulation and I work at the university only work in Windows. And although I have a virtual machine with Windows on my MacBook, I do not always want to initialize. In such cases turn to Crossover, a simple application that allows me to run some Windows programs on Mac OS X.
GoodNotes.
-
GoodNotes. Sometimes I attend one class with my iPad and stylus . In it I can do everything I need in class: open the notes provided by the teacher or take notes if necessary. And for that, GoodNotes is my best ally. I may write about PDFs, underline text, interspersed blank pages to make more extensive than usual explanatory notes, etc. If I owe my college life to an application, that is GoodNotes.
-
Dropbox. My life is in the cloud. Years ago all my personal migrated to the cloud (videos, photos, documents, etc.) for the versatility that gives me files. And it chose Dropbox. I used parallel onedrive and Google Drive, but 90% of my shares in the cloud develop on Dropbox. Has always been my ally.
-
iWork. To compose documents, graphics and presentations make a project, always turn to iWork. Its interface is simple and intuitive. And, although not as powerful as Office, usually more than enough for my needs. I use both the MacBook and the iPad.
-
WinZip. often receive compressed files by email, and to I opened my iPhone and iPad resort to WinZip.
-
Scanbot In college they give us something physical pages with some frequency hatred, as already know-. Therefore I use Scanbot to digitize and upload them to my Dropbox account. I also use it to store a digital copy of important receipts or almost any document you want to have on hand easily.
-
iA Writer. I love simplicity. And therefore I love iA Writer. My editor markdown favorite. In it I write all articles before publication in Hipertextual. And yes, I know others with more features and more powerful, but the simplicity of iA Writer has me in love and allows me to stay focused on every word I write.
-
Airmail + CloudMagic. Among the software to study and work I use, should appear inevitably Airmail and CloudMagic. They are my favorite managers email. They have a simple user interface, push notifications and seamlessly integrated with Google services and Microsoft. Great.
-
WolframAlpha While WolframAlpha is almost like an encyclopedia, personally I use it for two things: to represent functions in various dimensions and to perform mathematical operations. It’s really useful and simple to use. It also has applications for smartphones and tablets.
-
Fluid. Certain services as Trello or Nuzzel not have desktop applications. For this, I turn to Fluid, a simple utility that allows me to convert webapps in desktop applications (with notifications, background updates, etc.). A must .
-
Sublime Text. Both college and for other personal purposes, soil program. And for that, my code editor is Sublime Text (both Ubuntu and Mac OS X). I love its simplicity and its interface, plus some key functions that it houses. However, I often turn to Eclipse when I need a IDE
Nuzzel.
-
Nuzzel. On several occasions I have spoken of Nuzzel. It is simply one of my columns to perform my daily work in Hipertextual. Nuzzel show me the most relevant news of my social networks, being able to filter all the straw that often appears in them. The use in Android, iOS and Mac OS X.
-
WatermarkPlus. often need to add watermarks to photos -usually took to Hipertextual-. To do this quickly and easily, I turn to WatermarkPlus, which saves me a lot of time.
-
Other utilities. In my day, obviously also use software to study and work as Slack, Telegram, Evernote, Pocket, Tweetbot and Photoshop. All have a large popularity and have been discussed previously by my peers.
