The accident car track confused and just traveling along a path in the opposite direction are rare but often fatal. A new automotive software will simply be impossible to go the other way.
The software is designed by German manufacturer Bosch, apart from appliances or tools it is one of the large suppliers of technologies for the automotive world. The system continuously compares the vehicle direction with a database of roads where the direction of travel of each specified. If the driver enters a prohibited and address them in an alert on the dashboard tells you the problem. If the warning is ignored, the software stops the vehicle by force.
Additionally, the system is designed to send an alert to nearby vehicles. These last two details are important, because accidents vehicles circulating in the opposite direction usually given the fact that the offending driver is unable or unwilling to correct the operation (either by being under the influence of alcohol or because of suicidal drivers psychological problems). The software will alert other drivers by markings on the streets or in their own vehicles.
The software is easy to implement in all kinds of GPS devices from integrated into cars to smartphones.
