A student at the Autonomous University of Nuevo Leon, who are blind since age 14, developed Two computer programs for persons with visual disabilities to learn draft and can connect to Twitter.
In an interview with News Agency of the National Council of Science and Technology (CONACYT), Manuel Eduardo Cortez Vallejo explained that the Intellectual Typing Natural Power (DANI) helps readers through a screen with voice.
He indicated that the learning method for typing agility is the words dictation test of time , for which they need to follow the instructions of positioning of the fingers on the keys shown.
The student of the technical course in Software Development advised the user to combine presentations with DANI supervision, to better learning.
“My app is designed for Windows keyboard and tries to streamline the program keypad has two modes, press a button and a voice will indicate which touch letter” said Cortez Vallejo.
“So people do not see helps us to learn to type on a keyboard, because it also contains time trials for dictation and by sound alerts you if you are doing well or there is an error, “he explained.
The student said he decided to create this tool because frequently people with visual disabilities have to count the letters, which slows learning to write computer.
Another computer program he created is the TWBlue , which lets you connect to Twitter and provides a quick and convenient option for users with disabilities, also it gives a faster use social network from a computer.
“TWBlue helps speed reading tweets and write more words in a message,” also is more convenient it streamlines the page and send messages of up to 10,000 characters and corrects spelling, Cortez said Vallejo.
The program has 16 languages, thanks to contributions from other users, and is very useful for people who can not see, as you read them the message said.
TWBlue, which uses a free and open software with 10,000 users, remains based on donations and is updated every three weeks, so that the latest version was released on August 31.
The program has a universal design for all people, regardless of disability, to achieve integrated educational, occupational and social environment, Cortez said Vallejo.
He added that it now works for the program can use it the hearing and motor disabilities.
