NTT developed the first engine software coding … – PR Newswire (press release)

– NTT developed the first engine of global software coding H.265 / HEVC supports simultaneous transmission 60P / 120P video ultra- high definition

– NTT-AT and Transcoder SDK launches the application –

TOKYO , September 3, 2015 / PRNewswire / – Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corporation (hereinafter called NTT) has developed an encryption engine software that complies with the International Standard H.265 / HEVC (High Efficiency Video Coding) (abbreviated HEVC), and allows the simultaneous transmission of video of 60 frames per second currently used for 4K distribution, in addition to the videos of ultra- high definition of 120 frames per second.

The encoding performed by this technology will allow viewers to watch video with 60 frames per second on existing TVs and other devices-law distribution of video of 120 frames per second start in the future, which will provide a perfect exchange. This functionality is achieved by implementing hierarchical coding temporary address, which allows the integration of temporal sequences of bits HEVC 60 frames per second in HEVC bit sequences of 120 frames per second. The control algorithm of the original bit rate of NTT is used to achieve high image quality while maintaining the bit sequences HEVC 60 and 120 frames per second bit rates desired. In addition, introducing an original variable technique encoding bit rate, we achieved about a reduction of 40% in the amount of data in front of a constant bit rate, with picture quality equivalent to that seen previously. Thus, we can expect a reduction in storage costs, even with the current distribution services.

NTT Advanced Technology Corporation (hereinafter called NTT-AT) has acquired this technique, improved versions of the development kit software codec “HEVC-1000 SDK” and out sale software file conversion “FileConverter FC4000.”

Currently, the video delivery services provide content for various devices such as PCs, smartphones and TVs due 4K diversification of the display patterns. Thus, demand for transmission and file encoding is growing quickly. XAVC for the format of 4K video content H.265 / HEVC for video encoding emerge as new formats, and transmission and encryption is also required to use these formats. “FileConverter FC4000″ is a transmission application and file encryption in Windows. H.264 / AVC and H.265 / HEVC are available to support distribution formats for multiple devices such as HLS, Smooth-Streaming and MPEG-DASH. They are also available coding functions “Task Management” and “Watch Folder”. Several coding parameter verification can be simplified. It will support the development of video formats (8K, 120 fps, 12 bit, BT.2020, HDR).

Note that this technique will be displayed in “IBC 2015 “to be held in Amsterdam, Netherlands, from 11 to 15 September.
