Apple removes malicious software apps – Telemundo 51 – Miami

Apple Inc. has removed some applications from its App Store after developers in China were deceived for them to use software tools that add malicious code in an unusual failure security.

Deep cleaning App Store is given after the first large-scale attack developers who offer their apps, some of which mocked controls that store after being infected.

Apple gave no details on which companies were affected but Tencent WeChat Ltd. said its implementation was affected and the company launched a new version after detecting the malicious code.

Chinese press reports said other affected applications include banks, an airline service and popular music.

The malicious code can spread across a counterfeit version of Apple’s Xcode tools used to create applications for iPhones and iPads, the company said. It said counterfeit tools spread when developers obtained from the “unreliable sources” rather than directly from the company.

The malware collects information from infected devices and the load on external servers , according to Palo Alto Networks, a security company based in the US.

The flaw was first published last week by security researchers in Alibaba Group, the giant e-commerce, XcodeGhost called it.

Malware took public frustration with Beijing Internet filters, which hinder access to Apple and other foreign websites. This leads some people to use foreign software or copies of documents published on websites inside China to speed up access.
