700000 Seat cars have rigged software – FORTUNE

SPAIN (AFP) – Seat sold 700,000 cars with a souped-diesel engine, of a total of 11 million sold by its parent company Volkswagen (VW), he said on Tuesday a spokesman for the Spanish brand cars.

The spokesman did not specify the affected models, but said that “owners of vehicles equipped with EA189 engines will be referred to authorized service centers.”

Japan verified diesel vehicles

The Ministry of Transport of Japan called on car manufacturers to check whether their diesel vehicles comply with emissions standards.

The four Japanese manufacturers of automobiles using diesel -Toyota, Nissan, Mazda and Mitsubishi Motors and European manufacturers will have to submit their reports before Friday.

Volkswagen Japan is the largest foreign car company, but does not sell diesel models, very rare in the country (2% of the total fleet).
