SPAIN (AFP) – Seat sold 700,000 cars with a souped-diesel engine, of a total of 11 million sold by its parent company Volkswagen (VW), he said on Tuesday a spokesman for the Spanish brand cars.
The spokesman did not specify the affected models, but said that “owners of vehicles equipped with EA189 engines will be referred to authorized service centers.”
Seat, bought by Volkswagen in the 80s, “has decided to temporarily suspend all sales and deliveries of new vehicles equipped with a diesel engine EA189″ said a spokesman.
Volkswagen acknowledged last week have 11 million vehicles equipped with software capable of distorting the results of a test for contamination.
