Starts the ninth edition & # XF3, n University Free Software Contest

The ninth University Contest Software Free (CUSL) has been launched for the third consecutive year MuyLinux is one of the official media that give coverage. This is one of the most interesting initiatives that occur in the Spanish education sector with regard to the free software and open documentation , is that in addition to university open to students of high school and intermediate level and higher.

The Free Software University Contest (CUSL) is part of a set of initiatives that promote the development of software and hardware technologies as well as free documentation. Within the context of universities, there are “Office of Free Software and Free Knowledge”, who support and actively promote dissemination and training for the development of such technologies initiatives. The CUSL supported free office software such as universities of Seville, Cadiz, Castilla la Mancha, La Laguna, Miguel
Hernández (Elche) and Zaragoza.

From the organization Entries believe that Free Software is presented as a perfect complement to the training of students, allowing them to gain experience in the process of developing software or hardware prior to insertion into the working life stages. It is for this reason that we encourage students to participate in this event.

Previous editions of CUSL involved the creation of projects that are currently being used in some universities and companies, and other projects that fill existing gaps in the Free Software world.

The CUSL is comprised of four distinct phases:

  • Entry Stage: during which participants can register their projects in the competition. During this phase the organization on inform them about the acceptance of the project
  • Development phase. for development of projects accepted
  • Evaluation Phase: in which an evaluation committee made up of professionals from the world of information technology projects assessed in order to select the finalists
  • Final Phase: is composed of a series of papers serving and meeting point for students, participants, teachers, professionals who are part of the community Free Software University Contest. As colophon, the announcement and presentation of prizes to the best projects will be conducted.
