Google launches Android N, its new mobile software, but … – CNET in Spanish

The new software Google offers a split-screen view.

Google expects its mobile operating system is better than Apple.

the search giant announced Wednesday the launch of the new generation of its Android software , which power more than 80 percent of all phones and tablets in the world. the launch of the software, however, is a preliminary version intended for developers so that they can play with it before it is adopted massively.

for now, the Android version is called simply N. and is that Google often name their new mobile operating system using the next letter of the alphabet (the latest version is called Marshmallow, and before that, we had to Lollipop. So the turn of the letter N).

Some of the new features include split screen view to see multiple apps at the same time and to respond directly when you receive a notification.

with the new release of Google, the company has given the final blow in the war of smart phones. Specifically, in his sights it is Apple and its iOS software for iPhones and iPads. The two companies have fought in recent years for trying to outdo each other with new features for their respective software for mobile phones. Now, it seems that the modus operandi for each company is to ensure that its platform can do everything the other can.

For example, Android N allows you to respond directly to a notification, which Apple software already does. The split screen feature is also available on the Apple iPad Pro, which was released in November. Some Samsung phones running a modified version of Android already have the split screen feature as well.

The big challenge for Google, however, is actually getting people to use the latest version of the software. On Tuesday, Google said that only about 2 percent of Android users are running Android 6.0 Marshmallow, the latest version of the software. Most users, 35 percent use Android 4.4, known as KitKat.

Google knows that’s a problem.

“That was frustrating, to be honest “said Hiroshi Lockheimer, head of Android at Google, CNET last month.

That could be the reason why the company has launched a preliminary version of the software so soon. The company usually unveils the new software in May during its annual I / O conference for software developers. The point is to get the software reaches your hands as soon as possible and get feedback on how to improve it.

“By releasing a development version of the software we have more time to incorporate comments from developers,” he says Dave Burke, vice president of engineering of Google, in a blog post on Wednesday. He adds that Google expects the preliminary version will help you get a final version of N for device makers this summer.

Other improvements that promise to Android users include better battery performance with doze, saving energy when the device is idle. Android N, Doze offer additional savings from the battery when the device screen goes off.

Google also says that the new operating system will provide enhanced support for the Java programming 8. With Jack, a compiler Android, developers can take advantage of the popular features of Java in August, resulting in using less standard code for developers.
