59% of software is pirated defect resulting Chile – La Nación (Chile)

A report released by The Software Alliance confirmed the relationship that links the unlicensed software and malware attack in the personal computers. This correlation indicates that the higher rate of unlicensed software in a country, the greater the amount of malware in general found in computers that country which also involves governments, businesses and consumers in their regulation since the elimination of This software helps reduce the risk of cyber security incidents.

The consequences of using illegal software can range from loss of data or suffer computer hacker and add losses of 500 billion dollars worldwide, under study involving computers in 81 countries. On the other hand, the survey reported that 59% of software installed on Chile in the previous year was not licensed, compared with 43% globally.

The recommendation of the study is to implement internal controls, practice asset management software that meet international standards to reduce exposure to cyber threats.
