UCC software improve the technology used in washing … – Vanguardia Liberal

The project seeks to wash automotive companies offer a comprehensive service with a renewed technology: software management assistance patio of car washes, called G-Lav, created by university researchers.

The Department of Transportation estimates that the fleet in Colombia is 12 million vehicles by 2015. In Bucaramanga, Floridablanca and Girón, according to the system single centralized national registry, Runt, no 553 000 947 registered vehicles. Figures from the Automotive Committee, composed of Andi and Fenalco indicate that up to March this year had registered 941 vehicles, which represented an increase of 3.5% over the previous year. This growth has also allowed the expansion of the sectors which in turn is derived from the circulation of more cars on the street, such as the auto washing.

Based on these indicators, the Cooperative University of Colombia, through its Systems Engineering program, conducted research using a sample 20 companies in this sector in Bucaramanga, which identified needs renovation technology to meet, seeking to improve service quality and strengthen the business. As a result, the researchers created the G-Lav software that assists management playground car washes, as a first product research, experience came to the university with the industry and marked a path projection and impact office of the academy.

“an initial diagnosis of the state of technology use in the field of car wash was performed by literature review, study indicators, visits, surveys, and interviews with entrepreneurs, managers yards and operators. Subsequently a sector map that shows in detail the technological state of the business in the area was built. Technological improvement plan in which Glav was proposed as software to support management in the courts of washing is then designed, “said Jose Ricardo Santos Arismendi, researcher and professor of Systems Engineering program magister UCC and Engineering Systems and Informatics.

Arismendi explains that the software “allows you to record basic services and generate reports for monitoring and control of the business and of the activity”. In turn, this software becomes the starting point for an ambitious process of technological renovation that will include improvement in water use, taking advantage of the rain and reuse processes using liquid through chemical, and implementation of technologies phones, among others.

In future, researchers hope to generate new versions of Glav “to consider other aspects of business and new information technologies that provide opportunities for growth and competitiveness,” says Arismendi.
