BERLIN, Aug. 20 (Xinhua) – The first open source software designed to handle real-time analysis of massive data streams, today announced the Fraunhofer Institute for Analysis Intelligent and Information Systems.

The first software that controls “big data” using intelligent sensor technology is part of the “Ferari” project of the European Union (EU), which receives 36 months of funding as part Seventh research framework program of the EU.

Dr Michael Mock, project manager at the Fraunhofer Institute, said the new software means “that all data stream is reduced to the extent necessary” .

The idea behind the easy access is to advance the distribution of modern applications of “big data” for science and the economy as widely as possible, the institute said.
