DARPA is working on software that does not need to be updated … – wwwhat’s new? (Blog)

A software able to automatically adapt to changing hardware and platforms on which it is implanted, that’s what you want the DARPA (DARPA), with your project Building Resource Adaptive Software Systems (BRASS).

In the PDF and the note released indicate that think they can get to build a software that does not need to be updated in 100 years, which is important for to ensure that the information stored can be accessed even today in many years, without the storage and protection systems obsolete.

The note indicates that modern software systems are constantly increasing their capacity and complexity, but always subject to periodic update cycles necessary to survive in the new platforms. This prevents large amounts of data can stay safe for decades without human intervention.

So far have only opened the door to the idea, in fact are asking for help to anyone who can work with this concept , so surely will not see results until several years.
