Writing 13-Feb-2016 13:36 – México.- Researchers at the National Polytechnic Institute (IPN) developed a specialized computer system for linguists who can know in depth the use of certain words of the ancient Spanish through a collection of three thousand 534 documents written in America between the sixteenth and nineteenth centuries.

The specialists of the Center for Computing Research (CIC), Alexander Gelbukh and Grigori Sidorov, developed the computer system that provides the user with tools to work from any computer.

He explained that this integrates software and dystopian Diachronic Corpus of Spanish America (Cordiam) of the Mexican Academy of Language, which is made up of a database of three million words drawn from files of 19 Spanish-speaking American countries, in addition to the southwest United States, Jamaica, Haiti and Guyana.

by Cordiam seeks to create philological and computer infrastructure in order to integrate the different dialects of Spanish America, thus establishing a general and comprehensive history of the language that will useful for historians and anthropologists on this continent.

in a statement, Gelbukh, head of the Laboratory of Natural Language Processing Text, explained that the first document for the year 1494 and the last to 1905, covering the . foundational period, the colonial / colonial and the first century most American independence

the program has four innovative features: provides a metadata template to narrow the results, provides quantitative information of the universe of words entered into the search engine, analyzes entire documents that have matches, automatically saved in a database history of searches and makes preliminary and comparative selections.

the polytechnic scientist stressed that this corpus is unique in its kind by quality in electronic format; also has a friendly interface that gives certainty and linguistic data accuracy because its search engine has specific filters such as age, year, country of origin, author, origin of writing and ethnicity.
