The technology company, Intel, announced today on its website, which released the source code of the software used by the British scientist Stephen Hawking to speak.
Intel expects to use it and develop yourselves expand to apply it in other diseases. For now, it only works on PCs, the company said.
The software called Context Aware Assistive Toolkit (ACAT), allows Hawking to communicate because you have amiotráfica lateral sclerosis (ALS), a disease that deteriorated your muscles.
The program translates text facial gestures, uses word prediction and speech synthesis. It is also able to surf the Internet and check e-mail.
ALS is a degenerative disease of neuromuscular type. The sensitivity and intelligence, remain unchanged.
