BEIJING, July 25 (Xinhua) – Both revenues and earnings in the technology sector and information software slowed in the first half of this year, said the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MITI) said in a statement.

The sector generated 219,300 yuan (35,850 million dollars) in profits in the first few months, a growth of 12.6 percent year on year, report data presented.

The step was slower than the 22 percent growth recorded in the same period of 2014, MITI said.

The total revenue of the sector reached 2 02 billion yuan in the first half, an increase of 17.1 percent from the same period last year. This also represents a slowdown from 21 percent in the same period last year.

The number of employees in the sector increased by 8.3 percent to over 5.4 million people, is also a slower than the growth last year, said the MIIT.

The slowdown was in line with economic growth. China’s economy expanded by 7 percent in the first half of the year, down 7.4 percent from both the first half of 2014 and the whole year, they showed the data of the National Bureau of Statistics.
