Holguin, Jan. 6 (AIN) The Group of biomedical data processing Oscar Lucero Moya University of Holguin working to develop software that facilitates the diagnosis and subsequent treatment of patients with hereditary ataxias.
Allen Jimenez, a junior in the specialty of Computer Science and member of the team since entering the center, meant to AIN that the program’s importance lies in the possibility to quantify more accurately and objectively the patient response.
Also, Jimenez said that the use of software will allow qualified personnel access data much subjectivity as the angular speed, incline, the center of mass motion.
The beginnings of this scientific link with Ataxia Clinic have their roots in 2008 with the completion of the doctoral thesis of Professor Rodolfo García, who developed a mathematical algorithm to promote the study of eye movements of this disease.
In order to enrumbar their knowledge in terms of contributing to the sc ientific study center which has among its students and faculty members racing Informatics and Mathematics arises in March last year.
Currently its members work in seven new projects related studies coordination, gait disorders and eye movements.
These projects include the NSGait, which is under development and aims to use a sensor using video game technology for motion capture.
Another of these programs is the NSGlob, namely the development of a glove that allows the study of the ability of people to make opposing motions, principal involvement in patients with this disease.
All these applications will be integrated into the NSWeb computer system to facilitate access to specialists and stakeholders and is expected in the first quarter of this year the first clinical trial is implemented, meant Jimenéz.
