MEXICO CITY, Mexico, in April. 05 2016.- A group of specialists CINVESTAV (CINVESTAV) of the National Polytechnic Institute (IPN) developed a specialized document security software to identify data theft.
Due to theft of information illegally generated losses of 4.5 billion dollars in 2014, researchers at the Laboratory of Technologies of information Cinvestav, Unit Tamaulipas, created this system that does not exist on the market.
the program was conducted in C language, Linux system, so it is possible to migrate to other computing platforms to make it easier marketing, highlighted the research leader Jose Juan Garcia Hernandez.
the system is installed on a server where are stored documents, such as contracts or reports trade secret, but is available at terminals or computers of members of an organization, said the developer.
Garcia Hernandez added this process is so they can upload files and apply encryption and a tracking code can identify if shared illegally.
the specialist explained that users of the system may request application security software to document; however, they do not have access to the encryption code or the tracking.
Only enter your username and password, automatically the system performs the process and the file is saved on the server, said developer .
to access the documents can be sent as any other email, one person in the organization will act as a system administrator to assign the type of credentials to the document sent.
This charge will define whether the recipient of the file can view them on screen or have permission to download and print, among other actions, explained Garcia Hernandez.
if you do not have those authorizations or corrupt encryption for printing or share illegally, the software developed has the ability to identify the person who performs the action thanks to the tracking code.
with protection using this system can be identified in just four seconds at the person who commits the offense, a suitable period in terms of computer security, highlighted the specialist.
the developer said that the next step of the project will get its intellectual property protection and then start marketing.
