Motive Security Labs Alcatel-Lucent published new figures showing that security threats to mobile and residential facilities, and attacks on telecommunications networks increased in 2014, threatening the privacy and personal and corporate information.

Motive Security Labs estimated 16 million devices worldwide have been infected with malicious software, or malware , used by cybercriminals for espionage, data theft, denial of service attacks as well as related banking and advertising scams.

Users who do not use their phone to make purchases Internet are also exposed to even greater risks related to the attacks made to billing systems to retail level affecting the recording box or terminal billing within establishments.

Infections mobile devices increased 25 percent in 2014, compared with 20 percent in 2013. Android devices are so infected devices such as Windows PCs, and between 50 percent were exposed to these infections in 2014. While less than one one percent affects iPhone or BlackBerry devices.

The growth of malware continues to be encouraged by the fact that a vast majority of mobile device owners do not take the proper safety precautions. A recent survey of Motive Security Labs found that 65 percent of subscribers expected to be your service provider who protects their devices.

The report concluded that infection rates in residential networks also increased significantly in 2014, with the malware found in 13.6 percent of the residences, an increase of five percent over the previous year.

“As a result, we are seeing more operators adopting a proactive approach this problem by providing alert services to subscribers of malware on their devices with self-help instructions for removing the problem, “says Patrick Tan, general manager of network intelligence Alcatel-Lucent.
