Since we launched the online radio, write to us from many parts of the world and that we makes them very happy.
Those were the moving words of Marlon, director of Radio the Voice of Nae, one radio transmitting online from your own website from Amazonian Ecuador . All this is thanks to the “Shuar and Achuar, our stories, our language on the web” project.
During this process indigenous communicators participated four community radio, Radio Voice of Arutam, Radio Voice of Nae, Radio Voice of the Cascades and Radio Jatari Kichwa, and born of the need to Ecuadorian communities Shuar, Achuar and Kichwa to transcend the conventional boundaries of the radio broadcast to make their voice heard in the world through Internet. This need found an answer in the call for 2014 Rising Voices of La Wambra Radio proved as a beneficiary.
This process began in November 2013 as a forum for sharing technical, computer and communications knowledge with community radio to articulate the voices of movements, organizations and leftist groups, to build a comprehensive, self-managed network. In short, to build a collective space for groups from the groups.
The Wambra LaLibre and Radio, the process meant to strengthen the local community communication processes and share free technologies and alternatives through a process of accompaniment and knowledge transfer. In particular, these technologies are understood through the implementation of free software on two servers are self-managed by our collective
Both servers run on GNU / Linux and provide the following services:.
- Server Website : using Kloxo panel control, easy to use and allows the end user a pleasant experience to manage users advanced features such as FTP or email accounts. Apache is our web server and our engine MariaDB databases, and several security systems. As CMS system (content management) it was decided to use WordPress for after a functional and technical evaluation consider that no offense to others, this system meets the need for a reliable, secure, well documented and disseminated, easy to learn and that provides a good user experience
- streaming audio server :. implement an instance of Icecast, a project fully developed free software with thousands of installations worldwide.
The process is ongoing and online community radio sound on four radio stations: Voice of the NAE, Arutam Voice, The Voice of the Cascades and Radio Jatari Kichwa.
Each radio station is being feed content that reflects the worldview, organizational process, music of their own nationality and their language, which has been a great contribution to the strengthening of community radios indigenous nationalities in Ecuador’s Amazon.
