After the District reported several months ago the illegal disposal of hospital waste in the town of Kennedy, local and national authorities devised a system that allows for real-time which part of the chain of waste is leaking from the hospital, until the disposal site authorized.
The project was then designed a desk between the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development (MADS), the District Department of Health (SDS), the Secretariat District of Environment (SDA) and thence System Declaration and Traceability of hazardous waste (SDTRP) was established
.
This instrument will be regulated at the national level by the Ministry of Environment as a tool for reporting and control information on hazardous waste.
The self declaration by the Min structured environment provides that all stages in the chain (generation, transmission, storage, treatment and disposal) must report the movement of waste in real time, involving the generator, transporter and manager.
Those who do not report the amounts generated or received would be subject to monitoring by the environmental authorities. Over 30 companies from hospitals and licensed for this type of waste managers Cundinamarca and Bogota are part of this initiative.
