HP has announced that it will offer its customers, at no cost, licenses StoreVirtual 1 terabyte HP Virtual Storage Appliance ( VSA) to any person obtaining a system based on the Intel Xeon processor E5 v3 server, including servers Dell IBM and Lenovo , and new models of HP ProLiant GEN9 HP, which already include the deployment of VSA with one click.
While virtualization is still the trend of higher growth in infrastructure, its adoption remains a challenge for smaller companies that lack the budget, space and storage expertise required by enterprise storage solutions (1) . Service providers also strive to provide a shared storage accessible with advanced features that can later sell to their customers.
To help simplify and optimize the cost of server virtualization, the company will distribute licenses for more than 72 petabytes of storage capacity defined by software (SDS, for its acronym in English) at no additional cost to customers. Under this program, any customer who purchases a system based on the Intel Xeon processor E5 v3 server, you can download the HP StoreVirtual VSA software and license 1TB capacity SDS. Thanks to leave HP StoreVirtual VSA, customers can easily adopt the SDS by deploying shared and durable storage, and for less cost and physical impact with hardware of dedicated storage.
“The cost of shared storage remains an obstacle to common server virtualization for SMBs and remote sites of the companies,” said David Scott , senior vice president and general manager, Storage, HP. “By offering no cost with the VSA software based on the Intel Xeon E5 v3, HP and Intel processor facilitates the adoption of SDS worldwide, free servers, providing customers access to rich services data independent of hardware and hypervisor while preserving choice and lower costs “.
” The Intel processors are the smart choice for a world software defined “ said Bev Crair, General Manager, Intel’s Storage Division. “Specifically designed to be compatible with a center of smooth and efficient data, the Intel Xeon E5 v3 processor provides an optimal platform for providing intelligent storage while meeting the needs of computer and network through the data center defined Software . “
Increase performance in online transaction processes and virtual desktop
To eliminate the cost of storage hardware dedicated StoreVirtual the HP VSA software leverages the unused computing and storage server to provide flexible, shared storage to virtual server running VMware , Microsoft Hyper-V and Linux Kernel Virtual Machine capacity. The technology based on the Intel Xeon processor E5 v3 provides customers a platform for high-performance processing which easily keeps the needs of both virtual applications and virtual storage.
HP StoreVirtual VSA, standard servers x86 and the latest Intel Xeon processors provide a yield four times more storage for virtual desktops and 1.8x increased workloads in online transaction processes, compared to the technology without additional latency periods ( 2) of previous Intel processors.
